# Sources and licences

> Where tuinontwerp.app gets its data: 3DBAG, the cadastral map, BAG and aerial photography, with the licences stated.

Canonical: https://tuinontwerp.app/en/sources

tuinontwerp.app draws your garden on real data. This page says where that data comes from, what we draw with it, and on what terms we use it.

> © 3DBAG by tudelft3d and 3DGI (CC BY 4.0) · Via PDOK: Cadastral map © Kadaster (CC BY 4.0), BAG by Kadaster (public domain), Aerial photo © Beeldmateriaal.nl (CC BY 4.0), BGT (CC0 1.0)

This line appears on every PDF and PNG you export. In the design tool, a link in the corner of the drawing leads here, and every other page carries that link at the bottom.

## The sources

### 3DBAG

Building heights and 3D building models. We use these to compute the shade your house and your neighbours' houses cast across your garden. 3DBAG derives the models from BAG and AHN.

### Cadastral map (Kadaster, via PDOK)

Your parcel boundary. This is the shape the app draws as your garden, and what every measurement on the plan rests on.

Licence: CC BY 4.0. Credit: Kadaster.

### BAG (Kadaster, via PDOK)

The outlines of nearby buildings, and the addresses you search. The app reads every registered building here, including the sheds and garages 3DBAG does not cover.

Public domain (Creative Commons Public Domain Mark 1.0). No credit is required; we give it anyway.

### Aerial photography (Beeldmateriaal Nederland, via PDOK)

The aerial photo you can switch on underneath the drawing. You choose between the winter and the summer flight.

### BGT (Large-scale Topography Register, via PDOK)

The water inside your parcel. When your parcel boundary runs into a ditch, canal or pond, the app draws that part as water, even without the aerial photo.

Licence: CC0 1.0 (public domain). No credit is required; we give it anyway.

## For the gemeente pages

The Dutch pages per municipality use three sources the design tool itself does not need. They are not on your exports, because your own design does not use them.

### CBS (Statistics Netherlands)

The 342 municipalities, with their boundary, their centre and their population.

Licence: CC BY 4.0. Attribution: CBS.

[Copyright and reuse at CBS](https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/over-ons/website/copyright)

### KNMI (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute)

The daily sunshine hours of the weather stations. Each municipality page shows the monthly average of the nearest station.

Licence: CC0 1.0 (public domain). No credit is required; we give it anyway.

[Copyright at KNMI](https://www.knmi.nl/copyright)

### BRO Soil Map (Key Register of the Subsurface, via PDOK)

The soil types in each municipality, as the 1:50,000 soil map gives them.

Licence: CC0 1.0 (public domain). No credit is required; we give it anyway.

## What we compute ourselves

The sun and shade map comes from none of these sources. We compute it from the position of the sun and the building heights above. The result is an upper bound: we model buildings and what you draw yourself, not every tree in the street.

## What your browser sends to these services

These parties are not subprocessors. Your browser does talk to each of them directly, without going through our server. What happens per service is listed under [subprocessors](https://tuinontwerp.app/en/subprocessors).
