Cookie policy
This page lists what tuinontwerp.app stores on your device, why, and for how long. Most of it is not a cookie but browser storage. Everything is named here so you can find it yourself.
Cookies and other storage
A cookie is a small text file that a site puts on your device and can read again on a later visit. Browsers also have other ways to keep something: localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB. Those are not cookies, but they sit on your device just the same, so they belong in this list.
Each row below says which mechanism it uses. sessionStorage disappears as soon as you close the tab; everything else stays until its retention period runs out or until you clear it.
What we store without asking
If you visit the site and have not answered the cookie notice yet, we store nothing. No cookie, no localStorage, no sessionStorage. One exception, and it is not new storage: if you had switched analytics on in this tab earlier and then cleared your cookies, PostHog's tab number can still be in sessionStorage until you close the tab.
Before you choose anything, your browser does fetch two files from PostHog, at eu-assets.i.posthog.com: the settings of our PostHog project, and the component that can report a crash. That puts nothing on your device, but PostHog does see your IP address and your browser characteristics (the User-Agent line) while it happens, as any server does of a browser fetching something from it. No event is sent and no cookie is set at that moment. It happens on every visit, whether you have answered the notice or not: without the second file we cannot receive a crash report, not even from someone who refuses analytics, and the first fetches the settings that decide what may and may not be measured. That is why we count this as necessary to make the site work too.
The entries below appear once you make a choice or start using the design tool. They hold choices you made in the interface yourself. We do not use them to follow you across sites, and they do not go to any other party.
Some of these appear only if you use the design tool: the side-panel preference, the three tips, and your designs themselves. If you stay on the home page or the blog, those are never written.
The sign-up form on the home page is an embedded page from Tally and runs in its own frame, on tally.so. What Tally stores there is not in this table, because it does not sit under tuinontwerp.app; at our last check it was a Mixpanel cookie and a few localStorage keys of Tally's own. You clear those under the site data for tally.so in your browser.

What we store only with your consent
If you allow analytics in the cookie notice, PostHog starts measuring and the entries below land on your device. If you do not allow it, none of them are ever written.

Session recordings are a separate choice and set no cookie or key of their own. A recording travels through the same PostHog entries as analytics, which is why recordings can only be switched on when analytics is on as well.

Your design stays on your own device
When you open a design, the tool keeps that design in your own browser, in an IndexedDB database called gardio-design. It holds your address, your parcel outline and everything you draw.
This is not an account. There is no copy on our servers and we cannot reach it. It sits on this device, in this browser. Open the site on another phone or computer and your design will not be there. The link to your design does carry your address in readable form; anyone with the link can read your address and open your parcel, but does not see your drawing.
We do not ask consent for this, because it is the service itself: it is the drawing you are making at that moment. Measuring is a different thing, and we do ask consent for that.
Your browser is allowed to clear this storage on its own. On iPhone and iPad, Safari erases storage for sites you have not visited for about seven days. Your design is gone then and we cannot bring it back. There is no button in the tool yet to delete a design yourself; until there is, you clear it through your browser.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Your answer holds for 182 days. You can change it at any time, including to less:
The same control sits at the bottom of every page and in the design tool's settings menu.
If you switch analytics off after having it on, measuring stops straight away. The PostHog cookie is deleted, and what PostHog wrote to localStorage and sessionStorage is cleared out too. Only the two numbers for your current tab stay until you close that tab.
Clearing everything through your browser
To clear everything this site put on your device, your designs included, use your browser. In Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari it is under the settings for cookies and site data. Search there for tuinontwerp.app and remove what you find.
That also removes your answer to the cookie notice, so you will see it again on your next visit.
